Inspector

The Animal Welfare Society Stellenbosch is seeking to employ an Inspector for a position based in Stellenbosch.

Primary duties entail enforcing various animal protection laws, collecting and rescuing animals, and assisting with various departmental duties as needed.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications and meet all the underlisted criteria:

  • An unendorsed, valid South African driver’s license (minimum Code EB, 08)
  • Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification. Preference will be given to qualified Inspectors
  • A strong enthusiasm for animal welfare and a genuine passion for animals
  • Experience in working with animals
  • Willingness to handle, care for, and work with animals of all kinds
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and Afrikaans
  • Clean police and credit records
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately
  • Proactive, well-organised, and able to take initiative
  • Good time management, excellent communication, and people skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards when handling sensitive information
  • Willingness to work overtime, be on standby, and work weekends and Public Holidays as necessary
